So yes, somehow, even with a limited audience - thank you dear paid subscribers, your effort means a lot and it’s a big reason why TDM itself persists -, the popularity of this here feature, Bandcamp Basement, remains intact after a few volumes. Turns out it wasn’t really the novelty value, people are genuinely interested in reading about what others are discovering in their exploration of Bandcamp’s most remote rabbit holes.

Though it’s been sold and re-sold to big companies of varying shiftiness, the fact is that Bandcamp remains a sort of an oasis, a rallying point for those of us who are physically sick at the sight of the Spotify logo, and still a fantastic platform for small and independent artists of any genre, including those they make up, to expose their music with minimum costs and hassle. So while some asshole in a board meeting doesn’t come up with a redesign that kills it, we’ll keep scouring the depths of Bandcamp and coming up with suggestions for you.
