Yeah, it’s been a minute without an update here on The Devil’s Mouth, sorry about that. See, Amplifest happened, finally, after a pandemic-length wait during which the lineup bloated mightily into two weekends, which meant that I spent roughly two weeks away from home, both working and having a blast at one of my favourite festivals. One of the bits during which the having a blast part far surpassed the working part was during the NO JOY DJ set - as some of you might know, the name that I assume usually when I spin records originally came together for a collaboration with my dear friend and photographer/musician/all around super talented dude Pedro Roque, and every once in a while when the opportunity strikes we like to get together and try to amuse yet another room full of slightly confused people with our weird musical choices. The good people at Amplifest saw it fit to have us ruin a couple of hours at the end of a Friday night, and we went all out. As usual, our entire plan for the set was discussed in under a minute, to the length of about three text messages. We vaguely went for a sort of no metal/guitars weirdness kindathing, though naturally we ended up breaking those and most other rules, especially those of common sense. Hey, there was beer. And whiskey. And noise. And now you can relive it! Check it out here right now, where you can also check out the full setlist.
Thank you to everyone who was there and danced/screamed/awkwardly shuffled their feet with us until the bitter end, and to all of you who are doing it now. We love you all, though it might not really sound like it.
