THE DEVIL'S MOUTH Vol. 101: Ten Rounds with Maurice De Jong (Gnaw Their Tongues and many others!)
Our podcast returns with a man of many guises.
All done with episode #100 celebrations, it's time to get back to podcasting business, and business is good!
Our guest for our first three-digit episode is none other than the formerly elusive Maurice De Jong, the not-so-shadowy-anymore figure behind the terrifying Gnaw Their Tongues that used to be known as Mories. As the merits of his main project began to be recognised universally and GTT turned into a live entity, so did Maurice step a little out of his semi-anonimity, and with him he brought the unearthly designs of his imagination, in the form of a myriad other different projects. Seriously, check this out. Plus there’s a few that aren’t on Metal Archives, and furthermore there’s a few others you guys don’t know he’s a part of. The man is inspired, but never excessive - despite dozens of different projects, I’d be hard pressed to point to a release that isn’t great, or pick out two projects that don’t make sense or are at all similar.
So, on this very special Ten Rounds, not only do we dive into Maurice's own personal tastes (trust me, that Scorpions shirt is no accident) and inspirations, but we also got him to talk about some of his currently most active and most fascinating projects, so it's an even more music-filled episode than usual. And it features two of the longest song titles ever, so there.
Oh! And did we mention the Gnaw Their Tongues track on offer here is a never-heard-before unreleased gem? It will end up on a split soon, but for now it is a The Devil’s Mouth exclusive, so enjoy. It’s called ‘All Natures, All Formed Things, All Creatures Exist In And With One Another And Will Again Be Resolved Into Their Own Roots, Because The Nature Of Matter Is Dissolved Into The Roots Of Its Nature Alone - Part II’. Yeah.
