THE DEVIL'S MOUTH Vol. 107: Ten Rounds with Bart Hirigoyen & Quentin Sauvé (Birds In Row)
The release of the new album makes this a perfect time to take a deeper look into what makes Birds In Row tick.
Formed in 2009 in Laval, France, Birds In Row quickly transcended any labels that might have stuck on lesser bands. Punk, screamo, (post-)hardcore, sure, it's all in there, but there's so much more too, something primal, deeply emotional and sometimes intangible, a fire that keeps mutating and evolving with each incendiary show, with each landmark record. 'Gris Klein', their third full-length, just released on Red Creek, a manifest to love and hope in a difficult and chaotic time, is yet another bold step on a career that seems to have no boundaries.
The Devil's Mouth had a great chat with two thirds of the band, founding guitarist Bart "B." Hirigoyen and bassist Quentin "Q" Sauvé (center and right on the above photo, respectively) about all of this, and as usual, they also brought us ten fantastic songs they're currently enjoying, a rare opportunity to further explore what makes a unique band like Birds In Row tick.
