THE DEVIL'S MOUTH Vol. 152: ten rounds with Sean Ingram (Idle Heirs, Coalesce)
Legendary hardcore vocalist has a new band and you all need to hear it - which was a great excuse to invite him to do the Ten Rounds too!
One of the most iconic voices in the hardcore scene in particular, and heavy music in general, Sean Ingram is one of those guests that really needs very little introduction. His trajectory with Coalesce speaks for itself, he is a goddamn legend and it’s beyond unreal to have him on our show doing the Ten Rounds. Not only that, but also, and most importantly, we get to hear everything about Idle Heirs, the new band Sean and Josh Barber put together, a veritable towering monument of post-metal (for want of a better description) that is indeed shaking the foundations of 2025 in music already. Emotional, heavy, inspiring, crushingly heartfelt, it’s got everything, including a few clean singing parts by Sean like you never really heard him before. You can read more about our thoughts on it on our last edition of The Devil’s Month where it was obviously one of the selected records released during April, and then, you know, just hit play on the button below to hear the proper story of how this wonderful new band came about from the man himself.
Before you go, we do have two Idle Heirs songs playing on the episode, but since they have made a really cool video for ‘Pillow Talk’ (one of the ones that isn’t on the episode), might as well give it a peek before diving into the great chat we had:
On top of everything that you need to know about Idle Heirs, Sean’s list of ten songs for the Ten Rounds is also especially inspiring - from some of the classics that shaped him in the beginnings of his career to some contemporary niche artists that he nerds about with the passion of a true music fan, there’s a lot to learn from this extraordinary pile of music our dude brought to the table (and hey, Rennie, you’ll particularly love this one!). So without further ado, just click here to listen to our chat on Mixcloud, our gracious podcast host:
After hearing the episode, why not dive into the whole Idle Heirs album, too, right? If you haven’t yet, I’m sure you’ll want to. Here:
‘Life Is Violence’ is out now via Relapse Records.
You can find Idle Heirs on Bandcamp, Instagram, Facebook and Spotify.
