THE DEVIL'S MOUTH Vol. 100 special: Colin H Van Eeckhout talks about 'Silver Needle/Golden Nail'
Our podcast reaches 100 episodes and we got a few nice people lined up to celebrate with us.
We’re on the home stretch now. Already with episode #101 in the bag, we’re winding down on this week of celebration, season-changing, where we had the company of some truly wonderful artists. My Dying Bride’s Aaron Stainthorpe, Oxbow/Buñuel’s Eugene S. Robinson, Khemmis’ Ben Hutcherson, Royal Thunder’s Mlny Parsonz… Let’s be honest, it’s quite a cast. Imagine a supergroup made of those people. Right? And what about if we still added this gentleman…
That’s right, Colin is a dear old friend, and he was one of the first to support The Devil's Mouth, waaaay back in episode #15. It was a huge boost to have an artist of his caliber on the show at such an early stage. As we celebrate episode #100 with him, we get a lovely story about how the already iconic 'Silver Needle/Golden Nail' song, the opener for Amenra's 'Mass IIII' (2008) album, got its title. Neurosis and a couple of very different drinks are involved.
And whaddya know, turns out that there is joy and jokes and friendship behind the gloomy hellscapes that are Amenra songs, too. Thank you, Colin.
(and if you’d like to hear the song too, just quickly pop to our usual Mixcloud home)
