Veil of Sound vs. The Devil's Mouth vol. VI: Rocket Recordings Special
Celebrating a truly unique record label's 25th anniversary
Our collaboration with our beloved partners Veil of Sound is half a year old already! We started with a bunch of short outbursts for the initial presentation and a whole pile of nasty hatred on the second volume, went a little quiet and intimate on the third one, turned our attention to the extreme metal of Southern Europe on the fourth volume, and on the fifth volume, celebrated a few unsung gems that have reached their 20th anniversary.
So why not keep that celebratory mood going on vol. VI? Especially when there’s such a great reason, which is the 25th anniversary of Rocket Recordings (endearingly, that homepage of theirs is a blogspot that they still update regularly!), one of our favourite labels that has put out many a favourite common to both The Devil’s Mouth and Veil of Sound’s tastes. Which are, as you know, faultless. It’s a sort of anticipation to what you will be able to witness at the next edition of Roadburn, where Rocket will be curating a fantastic selection of artists to also celebrate this quarter-of-a-century milestone.
So without further ado, here is our usual introductory nerdy chat about this volume:
…and Veil of Sound’s playlist down below. As always, you can find TDM’s playlist on Veil of Sound website, right here, so listen to both and tell us who nailed it harder this time. Be honest, we can take it. See you next month with… another special! Can you guess?
