It’s been a while since we had heard about Josh Graham, aside from his typically brilliant graphic work that is. The former Neurosis visual media dude, who was decisive in redefining the aesthetic of the band both in terms of artwork and live shows, during a crucial period for them (2002-2012), has also established himself throughout the years with a remarkable musical career, adding some pretty impressive names to his CV, from Battle Of Mice and Red Sparowes to A Storm Of Light or IIVII. Since the latter’s latest album, the amazing ‘Grinding Teeth’, had its brilliance kind of swallowed up by the impending pandemic at the time, we had been wondering if something was afoot in the Graham camp, and, well, turns out it was. Surrounded by some of the finest gentlemen around, like Intronaut’s Sacha Dunable, Generation Of Vipers’ Billy Graves and guitarist Dan Hawkins who played on the last A Storm Of Light record, Josh’s new venture is called Guiltless, and we’re very excited about it. Check out their newest video as a way of introduction:
Awesome, isn’t it? It’s like taking that heavy, dense post-metal of the subgenre’s Neurosis-led golden era and adding it some rumble, some grit and some authentic street smarts typical of noise rock. Riffs crush, but they also scrape, and the whole apocalyptic tone of it all is based on a very real perception of the doomed path humanity is taking right now. Their debut album is called ‘Teeth To Sky’, it’s coming out on Neurot Recordings next Friday, March 7th, and the band’s live debut will happen in just a couple of months before a lucky Toronto crowd at the really great looking Prepare The Ground festival. Are you curious for more? Well, so were we, so we sat down with the big man himself, Josh Graham, for a really cool chat. You can listn to it right now up there on this page, or on our Mixcloud, or wherever you kids get your podcasts these days, as it’s up on Spotify and Apple Podcasts too.
‘Teeth To Sky’ is out on March 7th via Neurot Recordings.
You can find Guiltless on Bandcamp, Instagram and Facebook and Josh Graham on his own website Suspended In Light.
